WORKSHOP

Inga Workshops är planerad för tillfälle men håll gärna utkik nån gång då och då och fortsätt gärna läsa så Du få en uppfattning vad mina workshops handla om

The greatest achievements in yoga are not to be seen on the outside,  but happens on the inside.
Yoga is the path of liberation. But to free our-self we must know what we are liberating from.

Yoga has helped me to sort out the tight and messy knot of different feelings, and behaviors, to recognize them and follow them back to their roots, and finally overcome the guilt and shame and my constant state of distrustfulness, which was caused by deep childhood traumas.
Today I am grateful not just to have overcome the deepest soars in my life but also grateful to the traumas itself, since it`s pain has been the fuel to bring me again and again on the mat, trying to see myself with Asana as my tool.
By now I am not merely a survivor, but excited explorer of all aspects of life and karma.
I feel loved and safe and full of trust.

In this workshop I would like to share how to develop the needed skills to identify and work with all kinds of emotions and to combine the rational knowledge of technics and anatomy with intuitive awareness from within.
How we can learn not only to use the strength we gain, but to dare to let go of resistance and being able to stand  for whatever wants to come up to the surface, but also to open up and get ready for higher dimensions of being.

Since Samasthiti is the simplest Asana in the series of standing positions, it is in Samasthiti we got our chance to see where and how we stand.
The knowledge of Samasthiti can be translated to all other Asanas ,but not the other way around.
Though even you are a yoga teacher or longtime practitioner with advanced positions, going back to Samashtiti may give you the keys you didn`t know you missed out.
Of course we are not standing the entire time, but inquire Samasthiti in both standing and sitting positions.

Most Welcome, Namaste Virginia ( 20 years practice of Ashtanga, 10 years journeys of yoga, reg. Nurse since 1997)

Programme and content
(with reservation for change)

Friday
17.00-20.00

Introduction to the content of the course. We dive straight in to the dephts of emotions and avoiding and how to learn to let go of resistance through and in Asana.

Foot to hip (or why bend is the new straight)

On the technical approach we first take a close look on our feet.
Do we have tendency to flat foot or to round the arch of the foot too much. Where on our feet do we put most weight and how does our foot behaviour affect the rest of the body. Which part of the foot has the biggest impact on the knees/ tighs, buttocks, hips and groins. This work will make us understand the difficulties of standing straight.
We try to discover the relation between hips/groins and buttocks and how to use the feet and inner-thighs to not overstrain any of those body-parts and how to avoid to either flat the lower back to much or going to sway-back.
We will get an inkling about how to reach the different body-parts, first separately and later in co-work with the rest of the body. We work very, very slowly and a lot in pairs, since my experience shows that it is easier to comprehend the co-movements in doing so.
We finish the evening with a short meditation and a 15 minutes yoga nidra.

Saturday
08.00- 10.00

Slow guided class where we try to integrate the work from the day before.
We complete the class with yoga nidra.

10.00- 10.30 break

10.30 -12.30 Bandhas, Chakras and the upper body

Down to earth chakra work
Bandhas: how to find and engage the root-lock (moola bandha) and navel-lock (uddiyana-bandha) and a brief introduction to their psychological and spiritual meaning.
We are going to learn how to move the legs to easier hold the root-lock.
We research about which movements of the upper body and arms let us lose contact with the navel-lock. As we understand the connection shoulder-blade/spine and the lower front rips we discover a much deeper dimension of asana.

12.30-13-15 break
13.15-14.30

Time for questions and reflection. You are welcome to suggest an asana you like to understand better. We finish with pranayama and meditation.

This forenoon we are going to bringing the knowledge of the lower and upper body together to get the understanding of the collaboration between feet and legs and rip-cage, arms to elongate the spine and open up from within.
We also look at the throat-lock wich stimulates the throat chakra and it`s meaning. The use of all three locks is called Maha-bandha and it is the profound base of Ashtanga Yoga.
